Worship

Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

(Psalm 63:3-4)

Worship Teams

Music

Led by our music director, accomplished composer and musician Tyler Versluis, the Choir sings regularly at Sunday services and rehearses on Thursday evenings. We have two regular worship bands that each perform once a month.

Lay Administrators

During every communion service one to two people serve the cup, the blood of Jesus, to those attending.

Anointers

For every Sunday communion service one member stands at the back of the church to pray and anoint with oil anyone who wishes to ask for God’s guidance, support, or presence, whether it is for them or someone else, spoken or unspoken.

Intercessors

Every Sunday one person leads us in our common prayers. How we pray: the Anglican church has a set of seasonal prayers we often use, and then we add in our particular prayers for our church family (sent in advance) and world. As Intercessors become more comfortable they are welcome to use other forms and to invite participation.

Lay Readers

At our services we have at least two people read a passage of Scripture that relates to that day’s theme and sermon. The readings are organized and sent in advance.

Chancel Guild

This team sets the altar, prepares the credence table, and prepares everything related to these areas – including changing the seasonal colours.

Servers/Crucifer

Each Sunday one or two people support worship by lighting and extinguishing the candles, carrying of the cross in at the processional and out at the recessional, helping to prepare the table at the offertory, receiving the plate at the offertory, and helping the priest and lay administrators during communion if the need arises.

Sidespeople

The sidespeople team greets attendees at our Unity and 11:00 am services. They present the offering, and record the count of attendees at each service.

Bell Ringers

The bell ringer rings our church bell ten minutes before any service, announcing to everyone that we are worshipping and welcoming them to come. Children are often invited to help.

Prayer Ministry

We have a substantial team of prayer partners across the world (connected via email) who will pray for anyone who requests prayers whether it is for them or for someone else. Those submitting the prayers will often write or copy an accompanying prayer. We hope to establish a physical team of people to meet regularly for prayer.
