Volunteer

"We love because He first loved us!"

- 1 John 4:19

Opportunities like the following allow us to demonstrate the love of God in practical ways, and connect us to people within the church and outside our walls. Other words for our work in the community might be "Outreach" or "Serving". Whatever you call it, we'd love to have your help as we do what we can with the resources we have. Please use the contact form at the bottom of our website to be in touch with any questions or with how you'd like to participate.

Chancel Guild
Chancel Guild

The Chancel Guild prepares the church for all the services. We work in pairs one weekend or less per month. On Saturday mornings, we set up the altar and credence table for each Sunday morning service, usually no more than an hour, and tidy up after each service on a Sunday morning. For the special times of the Church year – Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving – extra attention is paid to beautify the church with flowers, fruit, vegetables, and colourful seasonal hangings. Our flower coordinator chooses and arranges seasonal flowers for each Sunday.  This is a peaceful and meaningful way to contribute to the beauty of our worship.

Music
Music

St. Matthew’s has a choir for our 11 a.m. Sunday services, and a praise and worship group for our 9:30 a.m. Sunday family service. The Music Ministry also participates in holiday services, concerts, recitals, and outreach projects.

St. Matthew’s welcomes all to join the choir and praise and worship group, which rehearse Thursday evenings.

A dedicated team of volunteers helps people who can’t get to St. Matthew’s anymore stay connected with phone calls, emails, letters, greeting cards, and Christmas baskets.

Partners in Prayer
Partners in Prayer

Since 1980, St. Matthew’s has had a team of people who support people through prayer. For more than 40 years this chain of prayer—connected by phone, email, and God’s love—has honoured well over 1,400 requests. We have people praying together from across the world. We would be happy to pray for you.

Hospitality
Hospitality

Hospitality is an important part of St Matthew’s community. Throughout the year, we help at special events, and provide coffee and refreshments after each Sunday service. It doesn’t take a lot of time, but our efforts are appreciated.
